Being a Patient at Jefferson
No one wants to be a patient in a hospital. It's difficult to be away from the familiar surroundings and comforts of your home. At Jefferson, we do everything possible to make your stay with us as pleasant as possible. We know that sometimes it's the smallest things that can make you feel better which aids in your recovery.
For example, if your want to get your hair done, hair care services are available to you in your room. Just call Patient
Services at 215-955-7777 to arrange an appointment for a beautician or
a barber. Or, if you would like an extra blanket or pillow, your nurse will be happy to provide them.
You can also expect that your room will be thoroughly cleaned once every day. Members of
our housekeeping staff will come in between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. If you were out of your room when we
cleaned, your housekeeper will leave a "While You Were Out" card to let
you know we were there. If we missed something or you need additional services, don't hesitate to tell your housekeeper or notify the housekeeping supervisor by touching
the control on the menu of the Jefferson-GetWellNetwork.
We also have a wonderful staff of volunteers who can provide magazines and books and make purchases in the Gift Shop and Atrium Cafeteria. The Volunteer Services
Office is open Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please
call 215-955-6222 or 5-6222 (from inside the Hospital).
Smoking Policy
We know that if you are a smoker, hospitalization can be uncomfortable for you as you may feel symptoms of withdrawal. For the health and safety of the entire Jefferson community,
smoking is not permitted in Hospital buildings or at any Hospital
building entrances. But, if you feel now may be a good time to quit, you can
talk to your physician about your particular need.
Your Privacy
We take your privacy very seriously. If someone calls or stops by our Information Desk, our staff is only permitted to release your room and telephone number. Information
about your diagnosis, treatment and any other items related to your
care are considered confidential and are never given out.
If you decide you don't want to have visitors or telephone calls, please call a patient representative at 215-955-7777.
